SC strips babus of shield against 2G prosecution

The Supreme Court on Thursday unshackled the CBI from seeking statutory 'prior sanction' by ordering that in the court-monitored probe into the 2G scam, the agency needed no prior permission from the government to investigate a bureaucrat of the rank of joint secretary or above.
