Darjeeling comes to a halt as GJM launches fresh stir for Gorkhaland
The hills of Darjeeling wore a deserted look as the indefinite shutdown called by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM), which is demanding a separate Gorkhaland from West Bengal, began on Saturday. Life came to a standstill in three hill sub-divisions - Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong where all shops, markets, schools, government and private offices, banks and post offices remained closed.
