CBI drops govt lawyer in Coalgate case

The CBI on Saturday severed its last link with the government related to legal assistance and managing its docket in Coalgate case before the Supreme Court.  From being called a "caged parrot" by the apex court after the findings that then law minister Ashwani Kumar had vetted a probe status report meant for the eyes of the judges, the CBI has come a long way, at least in terms of its links and dependence on government regarding engagement of lawyers.
