Modi, Mamata, Gehlot, Jaya skip NIC meet

Despite an angry walkout by TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu and Congress criticism of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's absence, the National Integration Council meeting on Monday saw parties join hands to condemn communal violence. Modi's absence did lead to some sharp statements but BJP leaders present at the meeting side-stepped the issue and concentrated on expressing concern over instances of communal violence and calling for swift action.
