The ordinance to protect convicted MPs and MLAs from immediate disqualification has run into resistance from the BJP, the Left and the Aam Aadmi Party, presenting Congress with the tough task of persevering with the legislation widely seen as designed to protect allegedly corrupt and communal politicians.
