Modi government passes Lokayukta Aayog Bill

Escalating the tension between the Narendra Modi government and Governor Kamla Beniwal further, the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday passed the controversial Gujarat Lokayukta Aayog Bill 2013. Once signed by the Governor, the Bill will replace the existing Gujarat Lokayukta Act and give sweeping power to the government in appointing the Lokayukta.
