8 yrs on, RTI act remains a story of attempts to bury it

The recent move on the part of political parties to exempt themselves from the provisions of the Right to Information (RTI) Act resulted in much public uproar and citizen activism. Though far less obvious, there were equally damaging attempts by Maharashtra's state machinery to bury the 2005 law in the past eight years.
