Punjab Congress pulling apart
The Congress seems to be struggling to put its house in order in Punjab - a situation that threatens to damage its poll prospects in the state where the party won eight out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in 2009. The rift between the rival factions headed by former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh and state Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa is widening, with the party high command's efforts failing to end infighting.
