Caste will shape voter choice in Bihar and UP

Seven months are a long time in politics. A clear majority in the general elections that are seven months away is even more distant for both the BJP and the Congress, according to this newspaper's Heartland Poll. The BJP makes big gains, but not enough. The Congress loses big time, but a web of alliance possibilities offers it a safety net.
