Record rebuff to reds by Chhattisgarh voters

In an apparent rebuff to Maoists’ call to boycott elections, tribal voters thronged polling booths much before the start of voting at 7 am at Golagura, one of the remotest areas in the Maoist stronghold of Sukma under Konta Assembly seat, to exercise their franchise. By the end of the day, voters of Chhattisgarh’s 18 Assembly constituencies — which largely come under the Maoists’ Red Corridor — together recorded 67 per cent turnout giving a explicit message to the Naxals that they are all for democracy.
