BJP may win 175 seats in Parliament: poll

India’s main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has improved its prospects of returning to power with the party expected to win 175 seats in Parliament on its own, according to an opinion poll. The poll, conducted by the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) in New Delhi, said the BJP’s allies— the Shiv Sena and the Akali Dal—would win another 16 seats. This will take the total number of parliamentary seats for the BJP-led combine, known as the National Democratic Alliance, to 191.
