Law panel wants speedy trials for 'criminal' leaders

If India's Law Commission has its way, it could well be end of the road for MPs and MLAs accused in serious criminal cases who use their clout to prolong the trial in order to cling on to public office. In significant recommendations, the commission has asked for speeding up of the probe and trial of cases involving influential persons to ensure they don't manipulate the criminal justice system and benefit from it.
