Vasan pressures party to contain Rahul influence

A tussle is underway between the Congress high command in New Delhi and an influential section of the party’s Tamil Nadu unit. Even as rumours abound that Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan would break away from the Congress unless he is made TNCC president, party insiders maintain that this is meant to pressure the high command into trusting him (Vasan) with the choice of candidates in Tamil Nadu for the coming Lok Sabha elections.
