Rs 70K cr e-way projects caught in Land Act

At least four major expressway projects worth Rs 70,000 crore might have to be axed due because land prices have gone up sharply following amendment to the Land Acquisition Act. This has inflated each project cost by at least three times. The Government has ordered a fresh design study and revision of the projects to assess their feasibility and viability in the face of increased land costs. The Government is yet to acquire land for the four expressways.
