Trade deficit narrows to $8.1 bn, exports shrink

India's merchandise trade deficit narrowed to $8.1 billion in February from $9.9 billion in the previous month. February's trade deficit figure, the lowest in five months, was despite exports falling 3.67% to $25.68 billion as imports shrank a sharper 17.09% to $33.81 billion. The export growth slipped into negative territory after a seven-month positive streak.
