Tamil Nadu: Will a multi-cornered contest throw up unexpected winners?

The run-up to the 2014 election in Tamil Nadu — on April 24 — has been all about alliances being made and unmade. Since the 1970s, electoral politics in Tamil Nadu has revolved around the DMK and AIADMK or the fronts they float. This time the BJP has cobbled a third front of parties with pockets of influence, including S Ramadoss's PMK, Vaiko's MDMK and Vijayakanth's DMDK.
