Congress wants to make Varanasi anti-Hindutva convergence point

The Congress high command, which clinically seized the one political opening it got following the riots in Narendra Modi's Gujarat in 2002 to systematically rally a national secular coalition to defeat the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA, is hoping to repeat that experiment by tapping the political possibilities Modi's leap into the Varanasi battlefield has thrown up.
