Self goal by Congress: Minority appeasement may misfire

The recent effort of the Congress party, almost midway through the elections, to reach out to the minorities—mainly Muslims—indicates how untimely and ill-planned the Congress strategy to woo Muslim votes in its favour is. More than helping the Congress in mobilizing Muslim votes, the party’ annoucement of a sub-manifesto would backfire and the party stands to lose much more than it stands to gain.
