As the tense negotiations between beleaguered Cyprus president Nicos Anastasiades and the troika — the EU, the ECB and the IMF — dragged on endlessly on Sunday, the weary Cypriot leader is believed to have finally snapped at one point. "Do you want to force me to resign," the Cypriot News Agency quoted him as asking the "troika" leaders. Cyprus may be small, but the Cypriot leader's anger and frustration — rare in heads of governments — is symptomatic of Europe now: a continent with a huge economic problem, where politicians sometime look eerily ineffective.
