On 21 March, two days after the DMK withdrew support from the UPA Government, ending a nearly nine-year-long relationship, officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided DMK leader MK Stalin’s house in Chennai, probing a car smuggling case. For once, even Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was “very upset” about the CBI raid, and said, “The timing of the raid is unfortunate.
