CAG report: PM, Sheila must answer

The placing of the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Parliament on Friday appears to have further muddied the political atmosphere in the country. The political equilibrium had already been made fragile by the 2G spectrum case, which is being monitored by the Supreme Court. Indeed, issues relating to preparations for the CWG, for which the chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Suresh Kalmadi, a Congress MP, is under a cloud and has been put in jail pending trial, too has been in the public realm for long, and also under judicial supervision.
