Nature's terrible fury

The consequences of Sunday’s ‘medium’ earthquake are far in excess of the intensity of the tremors that swept through Sikkim down the eastern States to northern States like Delhi and its adjacent areas. Apart from the extensive damage caused to houses and roads, especially in Sikkim, the epicentre of the earthquake, and in its neighbouring areas up to Siliguri town in the Darjeeling foothills, there has been a tragic loss of lives too.
