Government should not bow down to Maoists

The government’s policy towards the Maoists continues to display its hallmark confusion and lack of direction. After having described the threat from the ultra-Left revolutionaries as the gravest which the country has faced, the government started Operation Green Hunt with great fanfare. Now, it is reluctant even to use the name so as not to offend those within the Congress like Mani Shankar Aiyar (who was described as “half-Maoist” by Arun Jaitley) and the Left intelligentsia who may object to the word ‘hunt’.
