Towards darkness

Considering that India is the world’s third largest producer of coal, it is ironical that the country should now be facing such a severe shortage of this commodity that it has crippled power generation across many regions. Close to 55 per cent of our total power generating capacity is coal-based, and 85 per cent of the coal produced is consumed by power plants.
