Congress in rout mode

Now that the Congress has been comprehensively defeated in the Hisar Lok Sabha by-election, some party leaders have plunged into self-consolation by claiming it has not lost any ground; it was placed third in the 2009 poll there and is third now! If the party wants us to believe that it contested the October 13 by-election aiming to just retain the third spot, and had no illusions of winning, then it says a lot for the direction in which the Congress is proceeding even as the 2014 Lok Sabha election draws near.
