Ex-CAG babu stands by 2G loss figure

In what might be a setback to the government's attempts to play up differences within the CAG over computing the Rs 1.76 lakh crore loss in the 2G scam, the auditor, who led the exercise, has said he stood by the final report. In a letter to the public accounts committee, retired director general audit (post & telecommunications) R P Singh did not deny his communication to CAG over his reluctance to put a figure to the loss. But he said incumbent CAG Vinod Rai was within his constitutional rights to take a view including on loss figure in the 2G audit report.
