Let AFSPA remain

Given the spate of terrorist attacks in the Kashmir Valley over the past couple of days, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah must reconsider his insistence on lifting the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the State. While he has said that the Act would be lifted in the districts of Srinagar, Badgam, Samba and Jammu, which, he believes have been relatively peaceful, the fact remains that the peace is at best fragile, and can be disrupted with the slightest effort, as the latest strikes have demonstrated.
