Katju doesn't deserve to be the chief of Press Council
The Editors Guild has come out with a strong condemnation of the new Press Council of India Chairman, former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju, terming his recent remarks on the media as "ill considered, sweeping and uninformed." Less than a month ago, this paper had occasion to advise Justice Katju that directing his activism against the media, instead of working with it, was not the best way of functioning as the PCI chief. Since then our fears about his fundamentally unsound attitude towards the media have only been confirmed.
